About us

Chabua Municipal Board is the Urban Level Body (the elected third tier of democracy) for the town of Chabua. Chabua town, which consists of 10 wards, is situated in Dibrugarh district in the state of Assam. Its name derives from Chah(tea) and bua(plantation). It also known as the Motherland of Tea, because first time in Asia, tea was planted in Chabua. It is located between Dibrugarh town and Tinsukia town on NH-37 30 and lies 20 km (19 and 12 mi) from both the district towns respectively.

     Geography

     Chabua is located at 27.48°N 95.18°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 106 metres (347 feet). The town spans a total area of approx 0.98 square kilometre.

By Road: Well connected to Tinsukia and Dibrugarh district via NH37. The total straight line distance between Dibrugarh and Chabua is 25 KM (kilometers) and 700 meters.
